On the night of 27 April 1963, Fidel Castro arrived in the Soviet Union on a historic trip that lasted 38 days, during which he travelled extensively throughout the country.
Among the most significant moments, he was decorated by President Leonid Brezhnev with the title of National Hero of the Soviet Union and was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal. He also delivers a speech at a rally at the rostrum of the Lenin Mausoleum in Moscow's Red Square at a mass rally in Moscow's Red Square, becoming the only foreigner ever to be so honoured.
On the relationship between the two countries, in a speech at the "Lenin" stadium in Moscow on 23 May 1963, he said: "The friendship between the USSR and Cuba is truly exemplary".
Two editions were produced, a normal one and another limited edition in 1963 dedicated and signed - typographically - by Fidel Castro.
