Marco Jindřich not only documented with pictures the invasion of Prague by the Soviet Union on the night of 20-21 August 1968, he also recounted what was going on in those dramatic days. In a lucid description, the author tells us about the roar of the tank engines that drove down Lenin Avenue and were invading the city, he took his camera, filled his rucksack with film and went down to the street. There he saw the unimaginable, soldiers preparing machine guns on the tanks and the dismayed faces of the young Prague students, their parents still had the ugliness of the Second World War in their minds and they too bore witness to the suppression of freedom.
