Starting in November 2018 in France, the yellow waistcoat has become the emblem of the struggle, its talisman. It gives strength to those who wear it, and nightmares to the government. On the back of the waistcoat, each person tells of daily survival, work, police violence, hopes for change, for revolution. Jokes, insults, songs, quotes too. A popular culture, proud and fraternal, asserts itself in the face of ordinary exploitation and class contempt. Protesting against everyday exploitation of workers and arrogant class superiority.
This book offers a selection of 365 backs of waistcoats. It was made possible by the Plein le dos collective, which has been gathering thousands of photographs since the beginning of the protest. The profits will be donated to solidarity funds for the injured and the accused.
