Peru, a toxic state is a prime example of how a new form of colonialism is creating benefits at the expense of the environment and local communities. What is happening in Peru is also happening elsewhere. This work aims to collect testimonies from the population and create an archive of images that clearly show the dark and forgotten side of mining in the country, raising awareness among those who live off the grid.
Peruvian citizens themselves are very often unaware of what is happening to them just a few kilometers from home, including the inhabitants of the Andean communities who, due to limited information, remain fragmented and cannot cope with the basic right to health and a dignified existence.
A book that is closer to a fanzine in terms of size and invoice, but with its 500 copies it fits right in among the publications that will be remembered in time. Furthermore, Alessandro wanted it to be, for the most part, donated to the people of the Andes as a communication tool to learn about what is happening in Peru.
