The book is a summary of the many moments of the years of democratic repression in Tarragona with the desire and hope for change and the social movement, the flight to a career and the claims that were also experienced in Tarragona.
Barcelona photographer Pilar Aymerich is an exceptional witness to the times of transition and portrays the moments of popular and political effervescence experienced in Barcelona between Franco's death and the proclamation of Catalonia's Statute of Autonomy in 1979.
The book presents the first mass demonstrations of the Onze de Setembre, those of 1976 and 1977, the strength of the citizen mobilisation of the Assemblée de Catalunya, on 8 February 1976, the I Jornades Catalanes de la Dona, in May 1976. The origin of the campaign for freedom of expression and the demonstrations of women demanding changes in laws or improvements in public services, a whole series of acts and actions that show the vitality of a society that wanted to achieve democracy through collective participation. These photographs can help us understand them better.
