In the days following the revolution (25 of april 1974), in an environment of intense agitation and euphoria, wall paintings proliferated and, soon after, posters directly related to party activity. Murals and posters 'transfigured the image of cities with waves of colour and movement, in a true subversion of the aesthetic canons of the regime that ended'. The intervention in public space expressed the voice of a still unstable democracy, but with a decidedly demanding and militant tone led by the trade unions and workers' commissions.
Another unprecedented aspect is the appearance of a new visual writing and the way it becomes an expression of freedom, articulating graphic and textual elements, which Eugénio de Melo and Castro called the 'explosion of visualism': 'Thus, Portugal became a huge visual poem, which every day for two years was transformed, where everyone could write and everyone could read.
