April 25, 1974 was a transcendental moment in the history of Portugal. It was the year of freedom, of democracy, of the Carnation Revolution and it meant a new beginning. A talented young photographer was sent in November of the same year to Lisbon and the Alentejo. The gaze of this French-Spanish photographer, descendant of exiled Spaniards from the Civil War, portrays the Lisbon of that time.
It has been 50 years since the magazine l'Humanité Dimanche sent him, at age 22, as a reporter to document about the country's new socio-political situation following the "Carnation Revolution."
